Environmental determinism in plant comunities of tropical forests – The interest of naturalists and botanists in environmental factors, and their relationship to plant distribution, were key for the development of plant ecology. However, we are still lacking a clear understanding of factors influencing plant composition and diversity in tropical forests. Thus, my research intends to measure and compare patterns of plant richness and composition in different areas. This will allow to quantify the relative contribution of soil and climate that explain changes in different biodiversity components.
