Researcher I am interested on the conservation of crops’ wild relatives (CWR). We work on the proposal of conservation strategies for this group of plants making an exhaustive evaluation of the main CWRs in Spain and their current state of conservation. In addition to working with ecogeographic models, we work with other tools such as the directed germplasm identification strategy, better known by its acronym in English FIGS (Focused Identification of Germplasm Strategy). At the experimental level we have made common gardens with Lupinus angustifolius L. and reciprocal plantings in the field to try to test the concept of local adaptation and resistance to drought in this CWR of great potential in the genetic improvement of crops.

In addition to this main line of research, I work in the team of high mountain plants, whose main objective is the conservation of plant biodiversity in these particular habitats, using mainly Silene ciliata Pourr. as model.
